Just a few places that might be of interest : Double Reed Society - BDRS
The British Double Reed Society provides a forum for all oboe and bassoon players. There is a quarterly magazine and various events throughout the country. Being a member also means you can get discount on music goods at certain shops.

If you have ever wanted to keep a journal, but didn't want anyone you know to read it, this is the ideal place. Give yourself a new persona and write what you like. A good place to let off steam.

William Byrd was a composer during the time Elizabeth I. Byrd and Thomas Tallis were both employed by the Royal Chapel and worked together on a printing project. They were given a monopoly over music printing at the time, including the printing of manuscript. Check out this site about Byrd.

If you are interested in narrowboats then take a look at the Braunston website. Each year, at the end of May, they put on the Braunston Boat Show. A great place to go if you want to see boats of all sizes and types, or maybe even buy one! Pigpen is a narrowboat oriented site (despite the name). There are some pictures of roses and castles painting at this site, if my memory serves me. For more narrowboat related sites see ajbspage.

I absolutely adore the game of Riven. The graphics are great, and you don't get killed every five minutes. The puzzles took some working out. (The main site is www.riven.com). If you want to have a go at the type of puzzle involved then check out the Riven Journals.
